About HK Composites

Twelve years ago HK Composites proved their concept of insulated concrete sandwich panels by developing an injection molded polymer connector system as an alternative to other more costly and less efficient systems.

The patented HK Composite connector system has since been used successfully on many commercial buildings in the U.S., Australia, Canada, Great Britain and U.A.E., including wineries, fruit processing and storage facilities, cheese factories, warehouses, retail stores, jails, prisons, and distribution facilities. It has also been used in the construction of hundreds of houses in the U.S and Canada.

After an extensive evaluation in 1997, Owens Corning selected the HK Tie injection molding technology as the preferred method for manufacturing their PINKCORE® connector ties. This evaluation included tensile testing, shear testing, long term alkaline resistance testing, concrete pull-out testing, fire testing, cyclic fatigue testing and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) modeling. Much of this testing was conducted at Owens Corning’s 500 acre Science & Technology Center in Granville, OH. Additional testing has since been replicated at other building-code certified testing facilities.
